Deciding what to wear for your engagement photos can be a stressful decision! Here are a few tips to make the choice a little easier:
- Try to wear something that is in keeping with the feel and theme of your wedding. If you are planning a bright, fun, colorful wedding, wear outfits that match that same look–bright colors, casual styles. If your wedding is fancy & formal, go for something a little dressier–maybe a dress for you and slacks for him. Also, try to have an idea of what your invitations will look like beforehand, so the pictures you attach go well with the look of the invitation.
- You can also always bring a couple different outfits if your photographer doesn’t mind–maybe something dressy to start with and something casual to change into later.
- Don’t worry about being too matchy–sometimes if you are wearing the exact same color, it can look like you are going to prom. :) The best advice I have here is to find colors and patterns that go together, but aren’t necessarily the same. Think of it like you would decorate a room where you base the color theme off one piece and match everything to that.
- This might go without saying, but just in case: avoid hats, shirts with words or large logos, and patterns that don’t mesh well.
- Try to imagine what kind of photos you want hanging in your home. Sometimes it’s nice to have a set of more casual photos to balance out the formality of the photos you’ll hang of your wedding attire.
- Don’t choose clothing that will speak louder than your expressions. Remember that the purpose of the session is to get photos that show your love for each other.
- Most of all, just make sure you’re wearing something that feels like YOU. Don’t feel like you have to wear a certain style because that’s what everyone does for their engagements. Be true to your individual styles, even if that means your clothes don’t go perfectly together. If you’re comfortable and happy, your photos will be good, no matter what you’re wearing. :)
