.i don't get it.

I've been on a quest to figure out what the heck happens to my photos when I upload them to the internet and post them here. Because they do NOT look the same as they do when they leave Photoshop.

So I've been researching and I thought I found the solution. I've been editing the photos in the Adobe RGB color mode, which doesn't translate well to the web. Apparently I should be using the sRGB color mode.

So I tried it--and while the photos were on Flickr, the sRGB ones did look better. But now, posted here, I can't see much difference. If anything, it is the opposite of what I think it should be. So I need your help. Tell me which one looks better:

Number one or number two? Or do they look exactly the same? I know sometimes things look different on different monitors, so I would very much appreciate some people's input on how to fix this problem.

Thank you. And have a nice day.

Well... I think after braving the freezing temperatures and possible snow this weekend, the least I could do was show this cute family a couple photos to hold them over until the rest are done. :)

Over the summer, my dad asked me to take some photos of his airplane before he sold it and I just recently edited a few of them. Now I am not an aviation photographer, but here is what we ended up with:

I'm not sure what this says about me as a photographer, but I really like this next one:

I'm sure you remember this cutie--I stopped by last week to take a few more pictures of Jane in her blessing dress.

.winners.

This morning I woke up at the crack of dawn to get some things done before going to work. And one of those things was picking my winners. :) So here they are, picked randomly out Kenny's hat:

Winner of a free session: Katrina

Winners of half-price sessions: Spaub, Colt and Ashley, and Paige

YAY! I'm so excited. Email me to schedule your sessions. And if you decide not to claim your prize, let me know and I'll pick another one. :)

For everybody else who commented, I still really want to take your pictures! So let's do it anyway. And I'll give you a free print or something else wonderful.

Happy Thursday. :)

.my new camera.

I have the most exciting news. For me, at least. I got a brand spanking new camera!

Actually it is exciting news for you too. Because now I can take your pictures and they will be much much better than ever before!

(Do I sound like an infomercial yet?)

The camera I got is a Canon 5D Mark II, which is NOT what I thought I'd be getting at this stage in my photography career. Because it is amazing. And expensive. But thanks to encouragement and financial support from my lovely father, I was persuaded to go with the big guns. (Um... that means full frame sensor, HD video, live view, wonderful low-light capability, among many other things.... basically just producing a much higher quality image than I've ever taken before.)

So to celebrate, and because of course, I'd really like to get some practice in with this wonderful thing... I have an announcement.

I'm giving away a free session and an 11x14 print for someone who leaves me a nice comment on this post, and then depending on how many comments I get (I'm paranoid that I'll only get, like, three), I'll give away some half-price sessions as well. (If you are interested, you can see my regular prices here.)

So... if you would like individual portraits, portraits of you with your significant other, pictures of your child or immediate family, or some other combination (other than an extended family), leave me a little note.

YAY! This will be so fun, I promise. :)

(oh p.s.... I will pick the winners on Thursday...)

.warners.

Do these people look sort of familiar? Especially that adorable little boy? Well this is my sister and her family and I just love them. We went out to take some quick family photos while the leaves were so beautiful, but it kind of ended up being all about Jack. He's just too cute to not take a jillion pictures of.

Katie has been one of the most supportive people to me during all of my photography ventures. She refers people to me, gives me new ideas and always comments on my blog posts. :) So I am always happy to do a little photoshoot for them. (And Dustin, thanks for being a good sport and letting us make you be a model.)

So here you go, Katie. I hope you like them, because I do. :)

.jessica and isaac.

I love love LOVE engagement shoots. Seriously. And I had so much fun taking these photos of Jessica and Isaac, two wonderful friends of ours. They went to high school with Kenny and have been friends with him forever and when Kenny and I started dating, it was only natural for them to become my friends too.

Jessica and Isaac have had a very long history together (I think something like six years?) so it's about time they got going with the whole marriage thing. :)

We picked the perfect autumn day for these photos and I love how they turned out.
